Anton Karabaich (Karabaic) is my great grandfather who immigrated to the US from the island of Krk (Otok Krk) in the region of Istria (Istra) which is part of Croatia (Hrvatska). When he left it was Austrian territory. Recently, Croatia was considered a Balkan state and part of Yugoslavia. Today, it is again an independent country.
Anton's wife, my great grandmother is pictured above by his side. They resided in Old Town Tacoma, Washington.
